How do I use SSO to secure my PageTiger documents?

Our support team will work with your IT team to set up a new SSO configuration for VIEW. Once in place, we’ll create a security rule that uses your SSO, which you can test to ensure everything works as expected.

After testing, the security rule will be shared to your account, ready for you to apply to any documents you choose.

From then on, anyone accessing those documents will be required to sign in using your SSO, making the process secure, seamless, and hassle-free!

Why not consider using the SSO security rule as your default option? This means you won’t need to manually apply the rule to new documents, and they will be protected by your SSO from the start.

Example

If your organisation uses Office 365 SSO, your staff will login in there first before being redirected to the PageTiger Document.

What is SSO?

SSO is a user authentication process that allows your staff to access multiple applications with one set of login credentials. Instead of remembering separate usernames and passwords for each tool, they simply log in once and gain access to everything they need!

How does it work?

SSO works by offloading the authentication of your staff to your SSO login screen before redirecting them back to the application they want to access and log into - in this case, a PageTiger document that they wish to view.

What are the benefits?

  • Convenience: Users only need to remember one username and password to access multiple applications, which simplifies the login process and saves time.

  • Improved Security: With fewer passwords to manage, users are less likely to reuse or choose weak passwords.

  • Centralized Access Control: IT teams can manage user access in one place, making it easier to grant or revoke permissions quickly and accurately.

  • Better User Experience: A smoother login experience means less frustration for users, improving productivity and satisfaction.

  • Reduced Risk of Phishing: Fewer login prompts mean fewer opportunities for attackers to trick users into entering their credentials on fake login pages.

  • Easier Compliance: Centralised logging and user management help organizations meet regulatory requirements and maintain audit trails.

SSO Configuration

Full details of how to set up an SSO configuration for VIEW can be found on our user guide. This information will be used by your IT team to create a metadata file ready to send to our support team.

Using SSO with an Expected Visitor List

You can also use SSO alongside an Expected Visitor List (a list of email addresses) to create a bespoke security rule.

This means only staff who sign in with your SSO and are on your list will be able to log in and view your PageTiger document, adding an extra layer of control.

If you would like to use this option, please contact our support team, and we’ll share your SSO configuration with you so you can set up a new security rule .

  • Go to Documents > Settings > Security Rules.
  • Add a new security rule.
  • Enter a name in the Details tab.
  • Select the SSO tab and choose your SSO configuration.
  • Select the Expected Visitor Lists tab and choose your Expected Visitor List
  • Save!
