Email Capture
Ask visitors to enter an email address before they access a document, using Email Capture. This type of rule can be paired with password protection, if you would like to add a layer of security.
While it can be helpful for reporting, keep in mind that there’s no email verification, so visitors can enter anything that looks like a valid email address (even something like mickey.mouse@gmail.com!), which can lead to inaccurate data. To ensure that email addresses are verified, consider using a Reader Login security rule.
-
Select ‘Documents’ followed by 'Settings' from the main menu.
-
Select ‘Security Rules’.
-
Select the ‘Add’ button.
-
Start by entering a name for the security rule in the 'Details' field.
Make sure the name is clear and recognisable so you know which Security Rule you're looking for when you wish to apply it to a document.
-
Select the 'Basic Login' tab.
- Choose your preferred 'Interface Style'.
Modern (Recommended)
A fresh, more polished login screen, with a better experience for visitors.
Classic
The original version of the login page - less visually appealing and not as engaging.
-
Select 'Required' or 'Optional' for the 'Capture Email Address' drop-down list.
- Select the 'Show Cover' checkbox to display a thumbnail of the document cover on the login screen.
- Include your choice of help text on the login screen to improve the user experience.
