How to create a Style

A Style lets you define a document’s appearance settings and apply them across multiple documents, saving time and ensuring brand consistency. You can configure various elements to control how the document looks to your readers and what features or functionality they can access.

A selection of pre-configured styles are available to use in your account, designed to save you time and effort!

  • Select ‘Documents’ from the main menu.

  • Select ‘Settings’ followed by ‘Styles’.

  • Select the ‘Add’ button.

  • Several tabs are available, each containing different settings that can be configured for a Style.

Details

Start by entering a name for the style that you are creating - make sure it is clear and recognisable so it's easy to find!

Document Size

Set how your document will be sized on the browser it’s being viewed on.

We advise keeping the ‘Stretch to Fit’ checkbox selected and choosing ‘Stretch to Width and Height’ for single page view, as this will ensure the page fits the size of the browser making it easier for your readers to read.

Document View

Choose how you would like your pages and clickable areas to display to your readers when they view your document

For documents created with Book pages (portrait), double-page mode works best, while Presentation pages (landscape) are better suited for single-page mode.

You can also choose whether pages are scrollable, a feature that works particularly well on mobile devices.

Additionally, this is where you set the clickable area colour, which is the “glow” that appears for any interactivity in your document.

Toolbar

Choose the appearance of the toolbar, such as position, colour, and the options available on it. You can also choose the settings for the side arrows in your document to help your readers navigate.

Lots of options are available here, so take the time to have a look through and see what suits your needs! For example, select the ‘Download Option’ checkbox if you would like your readers to be able to save a PDF version of your document.

Pop ups

This section manages the settings for anything in your document that appears in a pop-up, such as a More Information pop-up box, Assessment or Poll. You’ll find several options here, including border and button colours,

It’s a great tool that can save you time, as you don’t need to configure each element individually!

Background

A short section which is used to set the colour of the page that your document appears on.

Keep background colours neutral to keep your readers attention where it matters.

Chart Settings

Customise the look of any interactive charts in your document, including bar colours, grid lines, and fonts.

Page Turn

Adjust options including page-turn speed and sound, zoom level, and page shadows to make your document look and feel right.

The most useful setting is “Remember Previous Interactions” - when used with a Reader Login or SSO security rule, your document will remember where your readers left off and anything they’ve already completed - like a mandatory module - so they won’t have to do it again.
